Greens poised to make more gains
7th
April 2008
As nominations
close for candidates for the local elections on May 1st, Sheffield Green Party
are confident that they will gain at least one more seat and raise their vote
elsewhere in the city. Rob Murphy is their candidate in Central Ward, where there
are already two Green Party councillors, Jillian Creasy and Bernard Little. Rob
Cole also hopes to win for the Greens in Broomhill, where he came second last
year with 28% of the vote. "We are standing
in every ward in Sheffield, as we have done since 2004",said Sheffield Green
Party co-chair Jill Lancaster. "We have been working hard in the new Central
Constituency wards, Central, Broomhill, Walkley, Nether Edge and Manor Castle.
We think this will put us in a good position at the next General Election."
