Greens Launch Manifesto
17th April 2007
The Green Party has
launched its manifesto ahead of the local elections on May 3rd.
Sitting Councillor Jillian Creasy is hoping to be re-elected in
Central ward.
"We are campaigning on four issues that affects the quality
of life of ordinary people in Sheffield," said Cllr Creasy.
"They need affordable, well-insulated homes that dont
cost a fortune to heat. They want public transport that serves
the needs of passengers first, which means introducing Quality
Contracts that will bring services under Council control. Local
shops and businesses should be supported so that communities can
thrive and residents can get what they need closer to home. And
we are against the creeping privatisation of services such as
schools and hospitals. These should be run for people, not for
profit.
"But of course our manifesto covers
a whole range of other issues too. Voters can read it on our website
at www.sheffieldgreenparty.org.uk,
where they can also access links to reports of what we have been
doing throughout the year to make Sheffield a better place to
live."
