...Sheffield Green Party Letters in 2006
29th November 2006

Meaningless Consultation

Dear Sir

So 2007 will bring more "Your Council, Your Say". That's more propaganda, more loaded questions and adding to the £45,000 of council taxpayers money knowingly wasted on this cynically rigged exercise. Consultation is becoming a dirty and meaningless word in Sheffield. The Super Casino, "Your Council, Your Say" and now the Wisewood School affair clearly show that the decisions have already been made when the consultations start.

Councillors from all parties listen to people every day of the week. They do surgeries, take on case work, attend local meetings. Some are out door knocking to seek people's views on a regular basis. They do their best to act on people's concerns and to influence policies. "Your Council, Your Say" just undermines that work and does nothing to add to our understanding of how to make Sheffield a better place for us all to live.

Yours Sincerely

Eamonn Ward
Sheffield Green Party
